Besides our cold weather shelter trainings, our next training is on Saturday, November 23. We will start with an MRC Orientation at 10 am, followed by a Points of Dispensing training. Lunch is included. Please register to attend this free training. It is also open to the public, with registration.

There is a need for volunteers at a health fair organized by the Sikh Centre on Sunday, November 3 from 0830 to 1400 in north Bothell. Please contact me if you are interested in this event. 

Additionally, the Snohomish Cold Weather Shelter season starts on November 1. We still need volunteers to sign up for nights, in case the temperature gets low enough to open. You can sign up for a shift by emailing me or go to Sign Up Genius. There are also several trainings scheduled through the end of the year.

The COFA Islander Health Fair is on Saturday, November 2. We will be needing volunteers from 0930 until 1700. If you would like to work a short shift, we can do that also. There are many positions for both healthcare professionals and support people Please contact me if you are interested in this volunteer opportunity.

Many of you have responded, but I have not heard from everyone. I put together a short survey on using the new method to communicate with you. Please respond to the Survey. Since this new method will be used for future activations, it is important that everyone is receiving the emails and is able to access the information. Look for a Call Down Drill on October 17 also!

Please consider volunteering for the COFA Islander Health Fair on Saturday, November 2. There will be a dental van, and many different types of health screenings and information. This volunteer opportunity will be all day from 0930 to 1700 at Everett Community College. If you would like to volunteer but cannot work the entire day there is the opportunity to work for a few hours. Please contact me to volunteer for this exciting health fair.

The COFA Islander Health Fair is on Saturday, November 2 and we need lots of volunteers for this informative event that will help people get connected to health care. The event is from 1100 to 1700 at Everett Community College and volunteer shifts will start at 1000. You can volunteer for the entire day or part of the day. Lunch is provided. There is also a free training about this event on this Saturday from noon to 4:30 pm (lunch included). If you would like to participate in either or both of these, please contact me. Thank you!

We still need more people to staff the first aid station at the Skagit County 5K on this Saturday, September 28 from 0830 to noon. Please contact me if you are able to volunteer for this event.

We are also still seeking volunteers for the COFA Islander Health Fair on Saturday, November 2 from 10 am to 5 pm in Everett. There will be a training on Saturday, October 5 for volunteers (it is not required, but will have helpful information) for this event. Please contact me to register for either or both of these events.

WHY ARE WE USING CIVIC PLUS? For the last couple of weeks, you have received the email from “listserv@civicplus.com.” I am not sure if everyone has been receiving the emails and I recognize that this platform is quite different from what we have done in the past.

The reason we are moving to Civic Plus is that in the next couple of months, we will no longer be using AlertSense. As you may know AlertSense is the program that we have used to be able to call volunteers quickly in the event of an emergency. The program can quickly send out an email and text message to everyone. The civic plus can also do this, but we need to make sure that everyone is receiving the emails and comfortable using the platform. For that reason we have moved the weekly update from an Outlook email such as this one to the civicplus email with a link in it.

For the next few weeks, I will be sending out an email like this as well as another message through Civic Plus (they will be the same). I would like to know if you are receiving both emails. If you do not receive the civicplus email, please check your spam/junk email folder to see if it is there. You can then add the email address to the accepted email senders so that it will not go into the spam folder in the future. Please contact me if you do not receive the civic plus email or if you have any difficulty with the platform. I will make sure that there is no more expiration on the links so that should not be a problem.

We have some trainings and activities coming up very soon!

                Psychological First Aid from 9-4 at Tulalip. Unless we get more people into the class we will have to cancel this class. Please register by emailing me.

                We have also been asked to staff a first aid station at a 5K in Mt. Vernon – so far we have no one for that activity.
