MRC

New Medical Reserve Corps Unit Leader

Steven Dodson has taken over the reins managing Snohomish Health District’s Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). Steven comes with experience in healthcare, serving as Safety and Security Supervisor for Community Health Center of Snohomish County, Emergency Management Coordinator for Skagit Regional Health, and Comprehensive School Safety Coordinator for Northwest Education Service District.

MRC’s latest mission was staffing the missing person booth at the Evergreen Fair. In this capacity, MRC volunteers assisted law enforcement by collecting information on lost individuals. They also provided wrist bands with parent contact information written on the inside in case the child got lost. This mission prepares MRC volunteers to work in a Family Reunification setting, where individuals will likely be upset and anxious to reconnect with their loved ones. Luckily, there were very few lost people at the Fair, and MRC was able reunite everyone with their family. They also handed out dozens of wrist bands to children. Beginning in November, MRC volunteers will partner with Volunteers of America to staff cold weather shelters in Snohomish and Monroe.

Steven is excited to carry forward SHD’s renowned MRC and to work closely with them, healthcare partners, and government agencies to identify exciting opportunities for volunteers as well as increase Snohomish County’s resilience to disasters.
