Welcome to our first newsletter!

This newsletter is dedicated to school health and safety topics and will be going out on a quarterly basis. We encourage your participation by providing feedback or suggesting future topics.

Survey Results

Thank you to all who participated in the survey that was sent out in September. Here are some highlights from the results:

Handout development had the most interest. We will start developing and sharing in the coming months.
There was some interest in a school advisory workgroup. We will start planning our first workgroup in 2023.
Pest assistance, IAQ assessment and purple air sensors were set aside due to lack of interest.
Follow-up inspections had more interest than visiting every school in one year. More information on this below.
Glo-germ presentations had interest. More interest on this topic below as well!

Teacher Training Video

We have received approval to move forward with creating a teacher training video. This will be developed over the next few months. The video is intended to show teachers how to keep their classrooms safe and healthy. We have a lot of creative ideas and are looking forward to developing this! We will make this available to schools for distribution.

Glo Germ

This presentation teaches the importance of handwashing by putting a lotion on children’s hands that glows under a blacklight.
Once the children wash their hands, they can check to make sure they got all the “germs” off.
We are planning on purchasing materials and sending out information to schools when we are available for presentations.
We will offer this presentation to kindergarten through 2nd grade classrooms.

Follow-Up Inspections

Starting in January 2023 we will begin our follow-up inspection program.
We will be using the K-12 Health and Safety guide to determine which items from a routine inspection will qualify for a reinspection.
Follow-up inspections will not be an additional costs to schools.
