School Advisory Workgroup

Mission

The School Advisory Workgroup (SAW) will be a cooperative effort between Snohomish County Health Department School Health and Safety Program and the school-related community. The SAW will meet regularly to review updates in the school program and issues experienced by school partners. This is a chance for our school partners to have input. We value your opinions and want you to assist the Health Department in the development of policies & procedures related to our school program, including inspection frequency, content, the costs involved, training, compliance recommendations and the development of educational materials.

Quick Facts

  • Meetings will be held twice a year, April and October. Meetings will be virtual. The first meeting will be on Tuesday April 11th at 1pm.
  • Membership open to anyone who is a Snohomish County school stakeholder that wants to participate. We encourage representatives from both public and private schools to join. We hope that individuals from maintenance, safety, facilities, and any other interested parties participate.
  • Agendas and meeting notes would be posted our website.

If you would like to join the workgroup, please email us at EHschools@snoco.org to indicate your interest and your background. We want to have a wide representation of industry participating on this committee.

Hands

Glo Germ Presentations

We have started visiting classrooms across the county teaching the importance of handwashing during this particularly bad flu season.

Glo Germ presentations teach the importance of handwashing by putting a lotion on children’s hands that glows under a black light.  Once the children wash their hands, they can check to make sure they got all the “germs” off.

We will offer this presentation to kindergarten through 2nd grade classrooms. If you or a teacher you know are interested, please email us at EHSchools@snoco.org.

Please Note: New Organization Name

Snohomish Health District is now the Snohomish County Health Department. The School Health and Safety program services remain the same, and we will continue to be here to serve you.

Due to our integration with Snohomish County, our email address has changed to EHSchools@snoco.org

Eventually, our old email address ending in snohd.org will be phased out and will no longer receive messages.

Our phone number will remain the same: 425.339.5250.

Please continue to reach out with any health and safety questions you may have.
