Safety Spotlight: Earthquake hazards

Teacher storage in classrooms may be a hazard in the event of an earthquake. Some simple tips can reduce risks and keep children safe:

  • Bookshelves over 6 feet tall need to be secured to the wall.
  • All heavy items should not be stored on the tops of cabinets in classrooms (books, chairs, music equipment, trophies, etc.).
  • Make sure heavy furniture such as filing cabinets are not stored next to exit doors. These can fall over and block egress.

A simple reminder to teachers could go a long way in preventing injury during an earthquake event!

Open to all!

A great learning opportunity from our school partners this November.

Glo Germ Presentations

We are continuing visiting Kindergarten-2nd grade classrooms doing Glo Germ presentations this Fall!

Glo Germ presentations teach the importance of handwashing by putting a lotion on children’s hands that glows under a black light.  Once the children wash their hands, they can check to make sure they got all the “germs” off.

If you or a teacher you know are interested, please email us at EHSchools@snoco.org to schedule a 30-minute presentation.
