SAFE STORAGE SURVEY

The North Sound Youth Cannabis and Commercial Tobacco Prevention Network has launched our Safe Cannabis Storage Community Survey.

About the Survey:

The survey will ask questions about how cannabis consumers with youth in the home are currently storing their cannabis, how they want to get their information about safe storage, and the resources they would use. Those who complete the full survey will be eligible to win an Amazon gift card. The survey is anonymous and it only takes 2 minutes to complete. It is available in English and Spanish.

How will the survey results be used?

With input from consumers, retailers, and youth prevention partners, the survey results will be used to develop effective safe storage messaging and resources for those who use cannabis.

Why Safe Cannabis Storage?

Nearly 50% of adults in the North Sound region feel that youth have easy access to cannabis (CPWI Survey, 2023). And 25% of 8th graders who have used cannabis recently say they took it from home without permission (Healthy Youth Survey, 2023). Encouraging adults to safely and securely store their cannabis at home is one way we can prevent youth (and pet) access and under-age consumption.

addressing the fentanyl crisis

"Every week in 2022, the equivalent of a high school classroom's worth of students — an average of 22 adolescents — died of drug overdoses in the United States, according to data..." (The Overdose Crisis among U.S. Adolescents, Friedman, PhD, Hadland, M.D., M.P.H 2023.)

Stanford REACH Lab has created a free lesson on Fentanyl and Opioid Awareness and Overdose Prevention. This lesson and resources are dedicated to providing information on the dangers of illegal fentanyl, impact on teens and young adults, harm-reduction strategies to avoid overdose, and educational resources available to educators, students, parents and more.
