USDA Rural development
The U.S. Department of Agriculture offers Single Family Housing Repair Loans. Also known as the Section 504 Home Repair program, this provides loans to very-low-income homeowners to repair, improve or modernize their homes. Depending on funding, grants for very-low-income homeowners 62 and older may be available to remove health and safety hazards.
