PumPers can:

• Inspect conventional gravity systems only
• Perform minor repairs on gravity and pump-to-gravity systems

installers can:

• Install new systems and make alterations to existing systems*
• Perform major or minor repairs on any system* 

*If the system or component is a proprietary product, the contractor must also be authorized by the manufacturer to inspect, install, or repair the product. 

Designers & Professional engineers

If you need someone to design a septic system, the only people allowed to do this are licensed on-site wastewater designers and professional engineers. Snohomish County Health Department does not license designers, this is done by the state. You can find licensed designers and engineers by using the Washington State Department of Licensing Lookup online. You may want to click on Advanced Search with License Details to narrow results to those with an active license in our county and surrounding areas. You can also do an internet search for septic system designers, and then use the DOL lookup to verify that they have an active license. We recommend getting multiple quotes to find a fair price.
